Student Pages

I've been teaching watercolor since 2002, and acrylic monotyping since 2010 and I enjoy the rapport and the sense of sharing I get from fellow artists, many of whom are well on their way to becoming established artists. We're all on a quest to follow our bliss and become better painters in the process. I learn as much from my students as they do from me!

I've divided my Student Pages into the follow categories:
Each section includes selected examples of my class demos and supply list.
  • Basic Watercolor
  • Intermediate Watercolor
  • Acrylics
Testimonials

Liz is a natural-born teacher and a wonderful artist. She's obviously having fun when she's teaching--just tremendous enthusiasm for art. The things I've especially liked about her classes (I've taken 2 and will take more in the future) are:

1)  She's a cornucopia of technique--whether it's a beginner needing the basics of watercolor, or an advanced watercolorist needing a new tool for expression

2)  Her class assignments are always interesting--she has a unique ability to know who needs structure and guidance to be able to move along, or who is flying off with a vision that just got sparked and should be left alone for a while

3)  She is constantly circulating amongst the students versus spending the class time painting her own projects--constantly involved--making suggestions, asking questions, pointing out things you might not have seen. -Susan N.

"Opens Up A New World"
Acrylic painting with Liz Walker has been an increasingly absorbing experience for me  I had never worked with acrylics before and, in fact, had rarely painted in any medium. Liz's total support from beginning to end has opened my eyes to the unlimited possibilities. Just some of the reasons I want to continue working with Liz:
  1. Variety of methods taught for beginning the underpainting of the paper or canvas
  2. Ongoing input on good materials to build a personal art supply
  3. Instruction on special advantages of painting with acrylics plus adapting some qualities of watercolor painting to acrylics
  4. Supportive critique of ongoing work ( the middle part's the hard part!)
  5. Trying out new discoveries;  Liz constantly tries out new methods and materials and shares the results via email.  (Be sure to get onto her e-mail list!)
Dip into a class with Liz. Bet you'll get hooked. --Joan A.

Liz makes everything seem soooooooooo easy and it is! She's great at motivating you to "jump in" and get going on a painting. She encourages you to let go and paint, paint, paint. - Shelley L.

Thanks so much Liz. I really enjoyed the process but also really appreciate your teaching ability. My standard complaint about art instructors is that they need a bit of 'instructional design' methodology in order to convey the process in a systematic and 'safe' way. But you are concise, informative and fun. A winning combination. Oh, did i mention generous too?  --Leana A.

I cannot thank you enough for this week’s workshop.  It has opened a whole new world for me and I am really enthusiastic to jump wholeheartedly back into my work.  I am pleased with several of the starts I did in class.  I am excited to share these with family and friends and I have not been able to say that (although they always support my efforts) in a long while. Thank you, thank you! --Susan G.
